The best nights were never on the itinerary
Think back over every trip you've ever taken, and pick the night you remember best. Chances are nobody booked it. It was the lake a stranger mentioned at a petrol station. The three extra nights because the light over the valley was simply too good to leave. The sharp turn south because the forecast said the north would be rain, and it was.
That's what camping is, at its best: not a holiday you follow, but one you make up as you go. A tent, a van, a caravan — they're all the same promise. Wherever the day ends, that's where we'll stop.
And then it's August
Every camper knows the other side of that promise. The coast you had in mind is full. The campsite you loved last year wants its booking in January. You end up in a lay-by, phone in hand, working through one booking page after another and asking the same question twenty different ways: is there space tonight?
Do that a few times and spontaneity starts to feel like a gamble. So people stop taking it. They book every night months ahead, drive from reservation to reservation, and the road gets planned right out of the trip.
The missing piece was never the campsite
Europe has tens of thousands of campsites, and most nights, somewhere near you, there's a pitch with your name on it. What's missing is knowing which one.
That knowledge exists. It sits inside dozens of different booking systems, each with its own widget, its own calendar, its own way of saying “full”. No one had ever put it on a single map. So we started building that map — teaching it, one booking system at a time, to ask the question for you. Patiently. Politely. For every campsite on your screen at once.
What we believe
Six things we won't compromise on
-
Freedom needs information
You can only improvise if you know your options. We'd rather you decide at 5 pm than in February — and we build everything so that you can.
-
Book direct, always
The campsite is the host. We send you to their door, not through ours: no bookings, no commission, no mark-up.
-
Pay for answers, not attempts
A check only uses a token when it brings back a real answer. If a booking system is down or too busy to reply, that's our problem, not yours.
-
Campsites keep their guests
We never take the booking or the relationship. A campsite that would rather not be read by us only has to say so, and we stop.
-
Politeness is a feature
We ask booking systems gently — hard limits on how often, every request signed with who we are and how to reach us.
-
Grow in the open
Every week the map learns to read more campsites. We count honestly — what we can read and what we can't yet — and show you the number.
Where we're going
Our dream is easy to say and hard to build: pick a direction, drive, and know that wherever the day runs out, there's a place to stop. Every booking system the map learns to read makes that a little more true, in a few more valleys, on a few more coastlines.
We're not there yet. But we're on the road, and we'd love you to come along.
See you out there.
